In spite of what naysayers might think, social media can be flipped to your advantage. For creatives, that means using your accounts to gain more exposure—in the most profitable ways, of course.

Previously, you read about a Facebook designer’s simple hack that transformed his Instagram account into a creative portfolio.

Instagram isn’t the only platform to get you heard. Painter Cat Graffam swears by another trick—pinning a tweet—that can greatly win you more jobs, considering the very little time and effort needed to pull it.

Graffam recommends writing a tweet that functions like a virtual business card. In it, you can include your name, contact details, relevant experience, and a few of your favorite creations.

You’re probably wondering why displaying your contact information in your profile description might not be enough. The artist explains, “[P]eople can’t share your bio as conveniently. [Additionally, you should] have your work be the first thing people see on your Twitter.”

Graffam also suggests using your best artwork or design as the first picture of your pinned tweet, since Twitter automatically enlarges the first image of each post, “making it the focal point.”

The artist’s tweet—to her surprise—has gone viral, and has received thousands of ‘likes’ and retweets from the creative community.

“I did not expect this tweet to blow up. I am really glad this resonated with other creators and I hope it pans out for folks,” she says.
